Join MDI as we explore business and partnership opportunities in and with South Africa. The main focus will be on the following sectors, but this mission is open to representatives from any industries that wish to take part.
Advanced Manufacturing, such as automotive, industrial machinery and equipment, and chemicals
Natural gas and other energy sectors
Raw and processed agricultural exports, high value crops, and food processing
Infrastructure—roads, bridges, electricity, water, and sanitation
Service exports—construction design, management and maintenance, wholesale and retail banking and insurance
This twelve-day trip includes four days in Johannesburg, three days in Durban, and three days in Richards Bay. All phases of the trip include: business to business meetings, business to government briefings, one-on-one business interactions, and marketplace meetings to pursue export opportunities and build lasting business connections.
Your stay in Johannesburg also includes a meeting at the US Embassy in Pretoria, a tour of Soweto, and transportation to the Apartheid Museum.
Your stay in Durban includes an optional tour of the Dube Trade Port and an evening reception with the US Consul General.
Your stay in Richards Bay includes a tour of the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, including a game drive and a tour of Shakaland, an optional visit to the uMhlathuze-Milwaulkee Sister City Project, an optional tour of the National Port Authority and Coal Terminal, and an evening with the Mayor of Richards Bay.
Companies registered to do business in the seven county M7 service area may qualify for a percentage of travel and potentially other expenses reimbursement through the Milwaukee 7. Interested companies can start the process by visiting the program website

Fees include business to business meetings, business to government briefings, Marketplace activities, and pre-Trade Mission business development services. This Trade Mission is funded by Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Collaborative Market Access Grant (CMAG). All eligible CMAG fees are reimbursable after participation in the Trade Mission. Only Wisconsin for-profit companies are eligible for reimbursement. Individuals will need to submit relevant receipts and proof of payment within 10 days of the conclusion of the Trade Mission.
